Vampire Facial AKA PRP (platelet-rich plasma)

PRP Therapy: What Is It?

Micro needling is a procedure for skincare involving use of a small needle unit. The needles staple the skin to cause micro-injuries. If the natural cure mechanism of the body begins to heal these wounds, it causes a renewed development of collagen in the skin. The whole process tightens and youthify the skin.

Collagen is a skin-friendly protein. With age, skin reserves of collagen start to decrease, causing skin wrinkles, fine lines, and a lack of power. Collagen activity in the skin is restored by micro needling. This is why micro needling is commonly known as collagen induction therapy. The results of the micro needling can be further strengthened by infusing the skin with PRP or plasma rich in platelets. The procedure consists of the use and injection of PRP from the blood of an individual into the skin.

How does Micro needling with PRP work?

The process of PRP begins by extracting from your own body by drawing blood from the inside of your arm. After oxygenating the blood, we spin it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets. The platelets are reintroduced into the body at a particular location, where they release growth factors which help stimulate collagen production to fill in sagging skin or hairline depression. It is a concentrated form of plasma to be injected into the skin for the purpose of getting a natural healing reaction with rewarding benefits that encourages the skin’s healing process.

Due to the use of blood in the treatment, PRP is also referred to as a ‘Vampire Facial’. You can use this process on the face, back, abdomen, legs, arms, hand, and neck. The goal being it helping to enhance and restore skin’s texture, tone, colour, elasticity, firmness, and smoothness.
